Community

I am deeply committed to giving back to my community of Greater Milwaukee, whether it is through hosting trivia nights, partaking in tech meetups, giving presentations or volunteering to local causes. I believe that these activities not only strengthen the community, but also foster a shared sense of purpose that represent an investment in our future here in Milwaukee.

I was privileged to be invited as the keynote speaker at UW-Milwaukee’s Interpreter Training Program (ITP) graduation in 2022, where I delivered a presentation on building effective professional relationships.

Public speaking had been one of my greatest fears. Instead of letting this limitation define me, I deliberately decided to confront this fear head-on and transform it into one of my strengths. This journey of growth has opened many doors, both in professional settings and for community initiatives.

I firmly believe in the power of mentorship. True growth happens when we learn from those with experience, and on the other hand, guide others earlier in their journey. This exchange of knowledge not only accelerates personal growth, but strengthens entire communities.

Throughout my career, I’ve benefitted from the invaluable guidance of mentors who helped shape my technical skills and soft skills. In turn, I have had the privilege of mentoring several aspiring developers in web and software development. A mentee later shared that our work together had sparked a genuine passion for software development, inspiring them to make a career change into the field.

As a senior software engineer, I actively participate in local meetups to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and help strengthen the tech community.

Not only am I an active member of the tech community, I am also engaged in the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community of Greater Milwaukee. I have led many events, hosting ASL trivia nights, leading a regular board game night (pre-Pandemic), and organizing remote PC gaming nights so the community could remain connected during the Pandemic.
